Dordt College Baseball vs. Albright (PA)

(South Mountain Community College, Phoenix, Arizona) The Dordt College Defender baseball team lost a 5-4 decision in game two of their doubleheader with Albright on Tuesday, March 13 in Chandler, Arizona. The Defenders had a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning but gave up a run in each of the last two innings in the defeat.
Dordt got on the board in the top of the second inning with Eric Torgerson knocking in a run when he reached on an error, scoring Zach Staudt who had reached initially after being hit by a pitch.
Dordt gave up one run in the bottom half of the second but a Travis Dekkers homerun, his second of the season, knocked in two runs for a 3-1 advantage.
Albright scored two in the fourth for a 3-3 tie and Dordt took the lead back in the fifth inning. Dekkers knocked in a run with an error, as Nathan Fraley scored after tripling with one out.
Albright was able to tie it with a run in the bottom of the sixth on two hits and a Dordt error. The Defenders sidestepped further problems when they retired the side with the bases loaded. Dordt did miss an opportunity to retake the lead when they left two runners stranded at the end of the seventh inning. Albright then won the game with one run on one hit, with the winning run coming in to score on a wild pitch.
Dordt was outhit 7-5 with Travis Dekkers getting two hits, a homerun and a single with three runs batted in. Fraley, Alex Bluhm and Josh Peterson all had base hits for the Defenders with Fraley getting a triple.
Nick Serrato went five and a third innings on the mound and gave up four runs on five hits with three bases on balls and two strikeouts. Aaron Parks took the loss after working two-thirds of an inning, allowing one hit.
Dordt is now 3-7 while Albright improves to 5-9.
