Dordt College Baseball vs. Nebraska Wesleyan

(Sioux Center, Iowa) After fighting back from a 6-0 deficit to tie the game, the Dordt College Defenders lost a 16-8 decision in game one of their doubleheader with Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday night, April 13 in Sioux Center.
The visitors got six runs on four hits and three errors in the first inning of the contest for the 6-0 lead. Dordt struck back for four runs on three hits in the second inning, capitalizing on two errors as Aaron Parks delivered a run scoring single, Eric Anderson reached on an error that also scred a run and Eric Torgerson also had a run batted in with a groundout. The frame started with a double by Dustin Brisel.
Meanwhile Ben Van Kekerix kept the Prairie Wolves at bay after the rocky first inning. Dordt managed to tie the game with three hits and two runs in the bottom of the fifth. Nathan Fraley singled and Nic Serrato sacrificed Fraley to second. Travis Dekkers doubled to the gap to score a run and Dustin Brisel followed with a double that scored pinch runner Anthony Maule.
The Prairie Wolves finally got to Van Kekerix again in the sixth, scoring eight runs on five hits off of Van Kekerix, John Drenten and Mark Nyhoff.
Down 14-6, Dordt scored two in the sixth when Serrato knocked in two with a single but the Prairie Wolves had an answer again as they got two runs on two hits in the seventh for the final of 16-8.
Dordt was outhit 14-12. Van Kekerix took the loss and was charged with eight runs--five of them earned in five-plus innings. Evan Ehmen got the win in relief of Wesleyan's starter Mike Lovgren. Lovgrent allowed six runs on nine hits and Ehmen allowed two runs on three hits with two strikeouts.
Serrato had three hits and two runs batted in and Brisel had three hits with a run scored and a run batted in. Aaron Parks was 2-4 with two runs scored.
