Dordt College Baseball vs. Mount Marty

(Sioux Center, Iowa) A three-hit, complete game performance by Dordt starting pitcher Lucas Carls led to a 7-2 win for the Defenders in game one of their doubleheader against Mount Marty Great Plains Athletic Conference play Saturday afternoon in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The two teams exchanged unearned runs in the first inning with the Defenders getting their run on a Travis Dekkers ground out to the right side of the infield that scored Nathan Fraley from third.
Dordt then erupted for six runs on five hits and four Mount Marty errors in the third for a 7-1 lead. Eric Torgerson delivered a two run single with two outs to extend the inning and gave the Defenders enough room to preserve the 7-2 win. Mount Marty got one run in the sixth inning but stranded two in the sixth and seventh as Carls won his fourth decision of the season.
Carls allowed three hits, five hits and five strikeouts and allowed one earned run.
Eric Anderson had two hits and scored a run and four other Defenders had base hits with Fraley and Torgerson each knocking in two runs.
Mount Marty's Cassidy Darlington took the loss with one walk and five strikeouts while allowing six hits.
