Dordt College Baseball vs. Valley City State

(Chandler, Arizona (Snedigar Field #4)) Dordt never led in absorbing an 8-4 loss to to Valley City State on Monday, March 14 in Arizona.
The Vikings scored one run in the first inning and the Defenders got that run back with a run in the second inning. Zach Staudt singled and eventually scored on a throwing error. Valley City State then erupted for five runs in the third inning to take control of the game. The Vikings then got one more in the fourth for a 7-1 lead.
Dordt got two runs back in the fifth inning with Travis Dekkers and Staudt each singling with two outs and Phillip Sears reached on an error by the rightfielder, scoring Dekkers and Staudt. One more Dordt run came in the sixth on a Morgan Halpert sacrifice fly that scored Josh Mouw.
Dordt was outhit 13-5. Mark Nyhoff took the loss for the Defenders. All of Dordt's hits were singles and Staudt was the lone Defender with a multiple hit game while going 2-4 with two runs scored.
Dordt is 1-5 and will face Valley City State on Tuesday in another doubleheader in Arizona.
