Dordt College Baseball vs. Concordia
March 30, 2011
(Seward, Nebraska) Three unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning propelled the Concordia Bulldogs to a 4-1 win in game two of their doubleheader with the Dordt Defenders on Wednesday in Crete, Nebraska.
Patrick Sinnema and Jacob Yurich were locked in a pitchers duel through five and a half innings but the Bulldogs took advantage of a Dordt error to score three in the home half of the frame.
Both teams scored one run in the second inning with Dordt getting Phillip Sears across on an Eric Anderson grounder to shortstop. Sears initially reached with a single up the middle to start the inning. Concordia tied the game with an unearned run in the bottom of the inning and left two runners on base.
Neither team had a baserunner in the next three innings with the pitchers taking over. Dordt stranded Travis Dekkers at third in the top of the sixth when he tripled with two outs. In the bottom of the inning, after a fly out to centerfield, Sinnema hit a batter. It looked like the Montana native would work out of the inning when he coaxed a grounder to the left side of the infield but an error was charged on the double play opportunity, extending the inning and with runners at the corners Concordia was able to push three runs in for the final of 4-1 after Dordt went in order in the seventh.
Dordt had one run on three hits with two errors while Concordia scored four runs on two hits. All of Concordia's runs were unearned.
