Dordt College Baseball vs. Concordia

(Seward, Nebraska) The Dordt College baseball team lost a 6-2 decision in game one of their doubleheader against Concordia in Seward, Nebraska.
Concordia scored four in the first on four hits and then tacked on another run in the second for a 5-0 lead. Dordt missed an opportunity to get back in the game with three singles by Zach Staudt, Phillip Sears and Jon Holwerda. The Defenders were unable to come up with the timely hit with one out and were retired with the bases full.
Concordia tacked on one more run in the fifth before Dordt got on the board with a two run triple by Phillip Sears for the final score of 6-2.
Concordia had six runs on eight hits while Dordt had two runs on four hits. Jake Slings was the pitcher of record for the Defenders with four innings pitched, five runs allowed, two walks and two strikeouts and six hits. Brad Vande Griend went the final two innings and was charged with one run on two hits with a strikeout and a walk.
Phillip Sears was 2-3 at the plate with two runs batted in and Holwerda and Staudt got credit for the other two Dordt hits.
