Dordt College Baseball vs. Morningside

(Sioux City, Iowa) Four runs in the first inning gave the Morningside Mustangs an early lead on the way to a 10-0 win over the Dordt Defenders in non-conference baseball action at Lewis and Clark Park in Sioux City, Iowa on Tuesday, April 5.
The Mustangs got four runs off of starter Jeremy Engbers in the first frame on four hits and an error. The Mustangs tacked on another in the second, three in the fourth and two more in the fifth for the final of 10-0. Dordt stranded two baserunners in the first inning and one runner each in the fourth and fifth innings.
Dordt's best chance to score came in the sixth when they loaded the bases on a Travis Dekkers basehit followed by back to back walks to Lucas Carls and Taylor Wyatt with two outs. Jon Holwerda grounded into a fielder's choice to end the inning.
Dordt had five hits in the loss with Travis Dekkers getting a single and a double while Brandon Van Engen, Morgan Halpert and Taylor Wyatt each had one single.
Engbers took the loss in the start. Ryan Baas pitched one hit ball over two innings of relief and Ryan De Wit pitched a scoreless sixth with no hits allowed and one walk.
Dordt will face Mount Marty in Yankton on Friday, April 8.
