Dordt College Baseball vs. Doane

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Doane Tigers scored seven late runs to take a 7-0 win over the Dordt Defenders in conference baseball on Saturday, April 2 in Sioux Center, Iowa.
The two teams were tied 0-0 heading into the fifth inning when the Tigers broke through for four runs off the Defender bullpen. Dordt starter Patrick Sinnema was forced to leave the game in the fourth inning with pain in his elbow and the Tigers took advantage, scoring four runs on three hits, capitalizing on two Dordt errors in the inning for a 4-0 lead.
While the Doane offense finally broke through, Nick Dawson was keeping the Dordt hitters off balance, limiting the Defenders to a Morgan Halpert single in the sixth inning. Three more runs in the seventh inning by Doane made the final 7-0.
Dawson struck out ten while walking two for the win. Ryan Baas took the loss as he was charged with two runs on two hits with a strikeout in two-thirds of an inning of work. Sinnema had allowed one hit and walked two with a strikeout in the first three and two-thirds innings of work. Jake Slings went the final two and two-third innings and gave up five rusn on three hits---two of them were earned and struck out one.
Michale Korsakes had two his for Doane in the win. Halpert had a single for the Defenders and Lucas Carls and Sam De Nooy each had walks in the loss.
