Dordt College Baseball vs. Manhattan Christian

(Manhattan, Kansas) A walk-off, three-run homerun gave Manhattan Christian College a 3-2 win over the Dordt College Defenders in baseball action Wednesday afternoon in Manhattan, Kansas.
The Defenders got on the board with one run in the fifth inning when Zach Staudt doubled to centerfield and Eric Torgerson bunted him to third. Taylor Wyatt then singled Staudt in from third with two gon ein the inning.
Dordtís second run came with Morgan Halpert doubling with one out in the sixth and he got knocked in with Travis Dekkers dropping a single in to centerfield. Dordt missed an opportunity for more runs with the Crusaders executing a doubleplay with the bases loaded. Dordt also stranded two runners in the top of the seventh.
Manhattan Christian set the table for their comeback with a base on balls and a hit batsman by Dordt starting pitcher Patrick Sinnema. With the tying run on first base the Defenders went to their bullpen and after a sacrifice bunt moved the runners around Codi Burrow slugged a three-run homerun off of Ryan Baas for the final of 3-2.
The Defenders had two runs on five hits and committed one error. The Crusaders had three runs on three hits and committed two errors.
Staudt had two hits and one runs scored while Travis Dekkers, Morgan Halpert and Taylor Wyatt each had one hit. Wyatt and Dekkers got credit for one run batted in each.
Patrick Sinnema went six-plus innings and was charged with two runs and two hits with two bases on balls and four strikeouts. Baas takes the loss and was charged with one run and one hit in one-third of an inning. Manhattan Christianís Trey Shelton was the pitcher of record after throwing one inning and worked out of a two-walk jam in the seventh and recorded two strikeouts.
Dordt is 0-1 this season.
