Dordt College Baseball vs. Dakota State

(Minneapolis, Minnesota (Metrodome)) Dakota State struck early and held the Dordt baseball team off in the late innings for a 5-2 win to split the early season action at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The Trojans got three in the first and another in the second for 4-0 lead. After a scoreless third the Defenders got one run each in the fourth and fifth. Travis Feekes tripled in the fourth and Josh Bowers knocked him in with a sacrifice fly for Dordt's first run. The fifth inning run came when Eric Torgerson singled. The sophomore gave way to a courtesy runner, Robbi Garcia who eventually scored on a single by Nathan Fraley. Down 4-2 the Defenders surrendered a run in the home half of the fifth and couldn't muster any offense in the final two frames, stranding two runners in the seventh frame.
Torgerson had two of Dordt's five hits. Feekes had a triple and Kyle Davis, Nathan Fraley and Tony Asta accounted for a single each.
Bryan Diemer took the loss in working three innings and allowed four runs and five hits.
Dordt is 1-1 this season while Dakota State goes to 2-2, splitting their second doubleheader in as many days under the dome.
Dordt will face Purdue North Central in Clearwater, Florida on Saturday, March 13 in their next game. The Defenders are scheduled to play ten games in six days over Spring Break from March 13-18.
