Dordt College Baseball vs. Dakota State

(Minneapolis, Minnesota (Metrodome)) The Dordt College baseball team won their season opener, a 3-2 win over the Dakota State Trojans at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Patrick Sinnema worked into the seventh in taking the win with the Defenders outhitting Dakota State 6-4.
Back to back doubles with two outs by Josh Bowers and Ben Fife gave Dordt their first run and Morgan Halpert scored on an error running for Fife. The Defenders got another run in the sixth when Tony Asta reached on a double and advanced to third on a ground out. A Josh Bowers single scored Asta and staked the Defenders to a 3-0 lead.
The lead stood until the seventh when Dakota State got two across and had the tying and go ahead runs aboard before Asta came on to record the final two outs and got the save.
Sinnema worked six and a third innings and allowed two runs on three hits and struck out five while walking one. Bowers had two hits and a run batted in and Fife knocked in a run as well. Asta, Bowers and Fife each had a double. Four different Dakota State players had a hit each.
