Dordt College Baseball vs. Trinity Christian

(Clearwater, Florida) Dordt College lost an 8-7 decision to Trinity Christian College in non-conference baseball action at Clearwater, Florida Wednesday afternoon, March 17. The Defenders trailed much of the game an left the go ahead run on base in the top of the seventh trailing by one run.
Dordt scored two in the first on a Josh Bowers run single but the inning was cut short by a double play to close the frame. Trinity got two in the first and another two in the second with Dordt getting two runs back in the third with Travis Dekkers supplying a single that plated a run.
Dordt got another run in the fourth that tied the game but the Trolls got a go ahead run in the bottom of the inning and plated another in the fifth for a lead they never gave up. Bowers clubbed a homerun in the sixth for a run to make it 8-6 and Nathan Fraley singling in a run in the seventh to cut the difference to one. Kyle Davis, who has been swinging a hot bat, lined out to end the game with the tying and go ahead runs on base.
Dordt's Patrick Sinnema started the game and went three innings with seven hits allowed, five runs and two walks with four runs earned and he struck out one. Eric Torgerson takes the loss in working the final three innings and gave up three runs on five hits with one walk and he struck out one batter.
Fraley, Bowers and Ben Fife all had two hits with Bowers also knocking in three runs and stealing two bases. Travis Dekkers had two runs batted in and Phillip Sears swiped two bases.
