Dordt College Baseball vs. Grace (Indiana)

(Clearwater, Florida) The Dordt Defender baseball team took a 9-6 loss to Grace (Indiana) this afternoon in Clearwater, Florida. The Defenders were done in partly by five errors that allowed Grace two unearned runs.
Grace got out to an 8-1 lead after three innings with Dordt's lone run coming in the second when Eric Torgerson singled in Travis Dekkers. The Defenders got back in the game when they plated five runs in the fourth. Tony Asta led the inning off with a walk and Alex Brown reached on an error after an out was recorded. One out later Eric Torgerson delivered a two run double followed by a Morgan Halpert run scoring single. Kyle Davis then came through with a two run double that cut the lead to 8-6. Grace got a run for insurance in the top of the seventh to claim the win.
Dordt was outhit 10-6 with Torgerson going 2-2 at the plate with three runs batted in. Travis Feekes had a double with Davis getting credit for two runs batted in and Halpert had a run scored and a run driven in. Nathan Fraley absorbed the loss with two and two-thirds innings worked with seven runs allowed on three hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Trey Schneider came on in relief and worked two and two-thirds innings as well with one run allowed on three hits and four walks. Brad Trimm finished on the hill with one run allowed on four hits while recording the final five outs.
Dordt is 3-7 after today and face Grace twice on Thursday to complete their Florida trip.
