Dordt College Baseball vs. Northwestern

(Orange City, Iowa) The Northwestern Red Raiders pulled away from Dordt College with a steady diet of multiple run games and won an 11-1 five inning decision in game two of the conference doubleheader between the two teams. Dordt surrendered three runs in the first and came up with a run of their own in the second inning when Travis Dekkers singled to lead off the inning and eventually scored on a ground out by Eric Torgerson after a Kyle Davis double.
Northwestern scored three more in the second and then put the game away with four runs in the fourth. The game ended on a solo homerun by Steve Englund with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning that gave the Red Raiders a ten run difference and the shortened game win.
Dordt was out hit 12-4. Tony Asta took the loss after working the first two innings and allowed six runs on five hits. Bryan Diemer pitched the third and fourth and was charged with four runs and Ryan Baas pitched the fifth. Brad Payne was the winning pitcher with five innings pitched and allowed four hits and one run while striking out four.
Travis Dekkers, Travis Feekes, Trey Schneider and Kyle Davis were all 1-2 at the plate. Payne had three hits and scored three runs and had two runs batted in for the Red Raiders.
Dordt ends their season with an 8-16 record and they finish 12-27 for the season. Northwestern is 29-18 and 12-11 in the conference.
