Dordt College Baseball vs. Midland Lutheran

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt College took advantage of an early opportunity and rode the strong pitching of Patrick Sinnema for a 4-2 win over Midland Lutheran on Saturday, April 24 in game one of their conference doubleheader.
Dordt gave Sinnema three runs to work with when Kyle Davis homered with one out in the second inning for a 1-0 lead. The homerun was followed by Morgan Halpert getting hit by a pitch and scoring on a double by Zach Staudt. Ben Fife then doubled in Staudt for a 3-0 lead.
Two scoreless innings followed with Dordt allowing two runs in the fifth inning when an error gave Midland Lutheran a baserunner and and Ben Goldstrom doubled to advance the runner to third. A groundout got one runner in and with two outs Dustin Brown scored on a Anthony Moss single.
Dordt struck to get the run back immediately with Zach Staudt lacing a homerun to left field to lead off the sixth inning and Sinnema retired six of the last seven batters he faced for his fifth win of the season.
Sinnema scattered four hits while giving up one earned run and struck out nine with just one walk surrendered. Zach Staudt was 2-3 with two runs scored and two runs bated in with a double and homerun while Kyle Davis was 2-2 at the plate with a run scored and a run batted in with a single and homerun. Travis Dekkers had a single while both Tony Asta and Alex Brown each had doubles to account for Dordt's eight hit day. Four different players had singles for the Warriors.
