(Sioux Center, Iowa) Six runs in the sixth and seventh innings combined gave the Doane Tigers a 7-3 win over the Dordt College Defenders in game two of their doubleheader on Friday night. Dordt held a 3-1 lead going into the sixth but couldn't maintain the cushion in dropping to 2-8 in the GPAC.

Dordt got one run in the first inning when Travis Feekes tripled and Kyle Davis singled him in for the first run of the game. Doane wouldn't strike back until the third inning when they got an unearned run in the third to tie the contest. Dordt sidestepped more trouble with an inning ending double play. The Defenders then got a run to take the lead on a bloop single by Tony Asta that plated Travis Feekes. Kyle Davis was thrown out trying to score on the play from second and Dordt's lead was 2-1.

A run in the fifth on a Travis Dekkers single that pushed Robbi Garcia across made it 3-1 to set up the final two frames.

Doane tied the game with a two run triple with two outs in the sixth by Jason West and after a scoreless Dordt sixth the Tigers scored four in the seventh for the eventual final of 7-3.

Jensen Callaway went six plus innings and allowed five runs--three of them earned, on nine hits, no walks and three strikeouts. Jacob Slings went one inning and was charged with two runs on two hits and he struck out one. Travis Feekes was 2-3 with two runs scored and Kyle Davis was 2-4. Tony Asta banged out two hits and Eric Torgerson, Robbi Garcia and Travis Dekkers all had one hit each.

Doane's Britton Scheele was the winning pitcher while giving up nine hits in six innings with nine strikeouts. Blake Snow was a perfect 4-4 at the plate.

Dordt is now 6-18 overall and 2-8 in the league while Doane is 19-10 and 5-5. Dordt will host Hastings on Saturday at 1:00 in conference play.
