Dordt College Baseball vs. Briar Cliff

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Briar Cliff took advantage of almost every opportunity they had in taking an 11-1 win over the Dordt Defenders in Great Plains Athletic Conference basketball on Monday afternoon in Sioux Center. The Chargers used a grand slam homerun in the third inning to break the game open and a Dordt homerun in the seventh helped the hosts avert the shutout.
Leading 3-0 Briar Cliff scored four in the third after two walks and a hit batsmen loaded the bases for David Kowal who launched a grand slam to right-centerfield for a 7-0 lead.
Briar Cliff scored four more in the seventh and Kyle Davis knocked a solo homerun for Dordt in making the final 11-1.
Dordt was out hit 9-5 with Travis Dekkers slugging a double and three other players had singles. Bryan Diemer went the first three innings and allowed seven runs on four hits with two walks. Patrick Sinnema went the final four innings and allowed four runs on five hits with three strikeouts. Briar Cliff's Craig Harris went the distance with five strikeouts and one walk and five hits allowed. Briar Cliff stranded one baserunner and Dordt left five.
