Dordt College Baseball vs. Dana

(Blair, Nebraska) Dordt College squandered a five run comeback and lost a 6-5 decision to Dana in game one of their doubleheader in Blair, Nebraska on Monday afternoon. The Defenders took the game to extra innings with a run in the top of the seventh but couldn't seal the win in falling in the conference contest.
Dordt trailed 4-0 after one inning and 5-0 after three before using at least one run in each frame over the final four innings to tie it. Dordt's first runs came in the fourth when Josh Bowers and Trey Schneider each singled and Travis Dekkers followed with a two out single to load the bases. A Tony Asta single got two runs in to make it 5-2.
Josh Bowers got Travis Feekes in with a single in the fifth and Alex Brown got a run across with a single in the sixth. Trailing 5-4, the Defenders saw their first two batters retired in the seventh. Eric Torgerson was hit by a pitch to extend the inning and Robbi Garcia ran for Torgerson. Dekkers then singled and Tony Asta reached on an error that allowed Garcia to score the tying run. Dordt threatened in the ninth but a double play with the bases loaded ended the threat and the hosts got a game ending double with a runner on second to win the game.
Dordt outhit the hosts 12-8 with Bowers going 3-5 with a run scored and an rbi. Trey Schneider and Travis Dekkers each had two hits and Asta got credit for a pair of runs batted in. Bryan Diemer went the first seven innings and didn't get the decision while allowing five runs, one of them earned with six hits and two strikeouts. Tony Asta took the loss in relief while giving up two hits and one run with one strikeout in one and a third innings.
