Dordt College Baseball vs. Northwestern

(Minneapolis, Minnesota (Metrodome)) The Dordt College Defender baseball team lost a non-conference baseball game with Northwestern by a final score of 5-3 on Saturday morning at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The Defenders led briefly after scoring three runs in the top of the third inning for a 3-2 lead. The Defenders got their runs across by virtue of a Josh Bowers single and a Dillon Peters triple where the two players were credited with runs batted in. Ben Fife also scored a run for the Defenders in the inning with Bowers and Peters both coming around to score.
Phillip Sears clubbed a double in the loss while Bowers and Peters both went 1-3 at the plate as well.
Chase Dieleman took the loss in his first varsity start for the Defenders and allowed six hits and four runs--three of them earned with a strikeout and no bases on balls. Eric Toregerson relieved Dieleman in the bottom of the fifth and worked two innings and allowed one hit.
Dordt faces Northwestern in game two of the doubleheader.
