Dordt College Baseball vs. Viterbo

(Minneapolis, Minnesota (Metrodome)) The Dordt College Defender baseball lost a seven inning decision on Friday morning the Metrodome in their season opener against Viterbo. The Defenders surrendered two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in losing the affair 5-4.
Viterbo scored two in the bottom of the third inning with Dordt answering back with three in the visitor's half of the fourth for a 3-2 lead. Dordt led 4-2 after five and a half but couldn't close the deal with the Lacrosse, Wisconsin school scoring one in the sixth and two more in the seventh off of relief pitcher Nate De Wit.
Dordt had six hits with an error and stranded four while the V-Hawks had eight hits and committed two errors while stranding eight off of Dordt's pitching.
Travis Dekkers had a single and a double in three official plate-appearances with two runs scored and Morgan Halpert banged out two singles with a run batted in. Travis Feekes singled and stole a base while Dillon Peters was one for three at the palte with a run scored. Evan Pheneger scored a run for the Defenders.
Patrick Sinnema went five and two-thirds innings and allowed five hits with three runs--two of which were earned and walked two with five strikeouts. De Wit allowed three hits, two earned runs and walked one. Both outs recorded by De Wit were by strikeout.
