Dordt College Baseball vs. Midland Lutheran

(Fremont, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender baseball team lost an 8-4 decision on the road in Great Plains Athletic Conference action on Monday afternoon in Fremont, Nebraska. The Midland Lutheran Warriors tripped the Defenders up in game one of a doubleheader that was originally scheduled for Saturday, April 18.
Dordt fell behind 2-0 while surrendering a run in each of the first two innings but tied the game on a Travis Dekkers double that scored Ben Fife and Travis Feekes who reached earlier in the top of the third with singles. Midland Lutheran responded with three runs in the home half of the third. Dordt answered with two more runs on an Eric Anderson homerun, scoring Morgan Halpert who reached on an error. The Warriors got two in the fifth and another in the sixth to cap the scoring at 8-4.
Dordt's Patrick Sinnema was the pitcher of record with four innings pitched, five hits, five runs allowed, four walks and struck out two. Chase Dieleman pitched two innings and allowed four hits, three runs, two walks and struck out four.
Dordt was out-hit 9-8 with Travis Dekkers knocking in two with a double and a single while going 2-4. Ben Fife was 2-3 with a single and double and one run scored. Eric Anderson was 1-3 with his two run homerun and Dillon Peters and Travis Feekes each went 1-4.
Phil Lucas was the winning pitcher with seven hits allowed with one walk and eight strikeouts.
