Dordt College Baseball vs. Mount Marty

(Yankton, SD) Dordt College lost a 17-7 decision in game two of their doubleheader in Yankton, South Dakota on Thursday afternoon and dropped to 2-12 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference with ten games remaining on the conference schedule.
The Defenders allowed two runs in each of the second and third innings and the Lancers got another seven in the top of the fifth before the Defenders erupted for six runs in the home half of the frame.
Dordt got their rusn in the inning with a Dillon Peters rbi single followed by a Travis Feekes two run double. Travis Dekkers cleared the bases with a three run homerun to make the score 11-6. Mount Marty got one more in the sixth and then five in the seventh with Dordt countering with a run scoring single by Evan Pheneger that plated Travis Feekes.
Dordt's Chase Dieleman took the loss after working four and two-thirds innings and gave up 13 hits wand struck out one and was charged with ten runs. Kyle Dieleman went four and two-thirds innings and gave up nine hits and seven runs.
Travis Feekes and Travis Dekkers both had two hits with Feekes knocking in two and scoring two with a single and a double. Dekkers had a homerun and a single and was credited with three runs batted in. Eric Torgerson had a pair of singles while Dillon Peters, Evan Pheneger, Jared Rayes, Zach Staudt and Morgan Halpert all had one hit each.
Dordt is now 2-12 in the league and 7-24 overall while Mount Marty improves to 9-5 in the GPAC and 19-15 overall. Dordt will host Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday at 1:00 in Sioux Center in their next outing.
