Dordt College Baseball vs. Mount Marty

(Yankton, South Dakota) Dordt College fell behind early and was limited to four hits in an 18-3 loss to the Mount Marty Lancers in Yankton, South Dakota. The game was the first of a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon.
Mount Marty scored four in the first and another run in each of the second and third frames for a 6-0 lead. Dordt got on the board with two runs in the fifth Morgan Halpert walked and scored on an error and Travis Dekkers knocked in Dillon Peters with a single to make it 10-2 after Mount Marty had scored four in the top of the inning. The Lancers erupted for eight runs in the sixth and Dordt countered with a two out homerun by Josh Bowers before getting retired in the bottom half of the sixth.
Dordt was considered the home team in the doubleheader. The games were originally scheduled to be played in Sioux Center.
Patrick Sinnema started the game for the Defenders and went one inning while giving up four runs and one hit with three bases on balls. Ryan Baas pitched the next four innings and was charged with six runs and walked four with three strikeouts. Brad Trimm pitched the final fram and was charged with eight runs.
Dordt was led by Travis Feekes at the plate with two singles and Travis Dekkers had a single and an rbi. Bowers accounted for Dordt's fourth hit with his homerun. Dordt was outhit 16-4.
