Dordt College Baseball vs. Dakota Wesleyan

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dakota Wesleyan completed the sweep of the Dordt College baseball team on Thursday afternoon with a 13-3 five inning decision over the Defenders. Dordt trailed 2-1 after one inning when Dillon Peters reached on an error and Travis Dekkers delivered a single to move him to third. Ben Fife then hit into a fielder's choice to get the run across.
Dordt surrendered four runs in the second and got one back in the third when Peters singled, Eric Anderson followed with a base hit and Dekkers hit into a fielder's choice the made it 6-2. The Tigers pushed seven runs across in the fourth inning, utilizing three hits to do the damage and Dordt got one in the home half of the frame with Evan Pheneger singling and Eric Torgerson knocking him in with a basehit after Morgan Halpert reached on an error.
Both teams were scoreless in the fifth inning and the game ended by the ten-run difference rule after five complete frames.
Chase Dieleman was on the losing end of pitching decision despite allowing just four earned runs. The freshman struck out four and walked six while allowing six hits. Matt Luckey was the winner for Wesleyan iwth six hits allowed, no walks and he struck out five.
Dillon Peters, Eric Anderson, Travis Feekes, Evan Pheneger and Eric Torgerson all had singles and Peters scored two runs.
Dordt is now 1-9 in the conference and 6-21 overall while Wesleyan improves to 6-4 and 21-9. Dordt is scheduled to face Briar Cliff on Friday afternoon in Sioux City.
