Dordt College Baseball vs. Morningside

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Morningside Mustangs used the long ball on Monday afternoon in beating the Dordt Defenders in Great Plains Athletic Conference baseball 17-0. The Mustangs clubbed six homeruns in the win with Bret Hoch and Jason Engleman each knocking a pair out of the park on a day when the wind was blowing out to left field at Open Space Park.
Dordt's Kyle Dieleman took the loss while pitching two and a third innings with seven hits allowed, nine runs and he walked one. Dordt was outhit 13-3 with three hits coming from Travis Feekes and Josh Bowers with a single each and Travis Dekkers had a double.
Jason Semprini struck out seven while scattering those three hits for the win.
The two teams play a second game in conference action this afternoon. The games were originally scheduled for Friday, March 27 but were postponed due to poor field conditions.
