Dordt College Baseball vs. Hastings

(Hastings, Nebraska) Hastings scored two runs in the fifth and another two in the sixth to take a 5-3 decision from the Dordt College Defender baseball team on Saturday in Hastings, Nebraska.
Dordt allowed a run in the first and got that run back in the fourth when Travis Feekes singled and Dillon Peters worked for a walk. Travis Dekkers singled to load the bases with one out and Ben Fife singled the run in to tie it at 1-1. A double play ended the inning with out any more damage for the Defenders.
Dordt got two in the fifth when Josh Bowers and Morgan Halpert both singled--Halpert's was a bunt single. With the runners at second and third by virtue of an error, Dillon Peters delivered a two-out single for a brief 3-1 lead.
Hastings got two runs in the fifth and tacked on two more in the sixth for the 5-3 win and narrowly out hit Dordt 8-7. Dordt stranded five runners in the sixth and seventh innings as Hastings sidestepped trouble in the GPAC game.
Dordt's Ben Fife was 3-2 at the plate with a run batted in while five other players each had singles. Cameron Gagnon allowed six hits with three runs given up while walking three and striking out five. Bryan Diemer had two hits allowed and walked one and gave up two runs in his inning of work.
Dordt is 6-14 overall and 1-3 in the league while Hastings is 9-19 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Dordt will host Morningside on Friday, March 27 in their next outing.
