(Crete, Nebraska) Five errors thwarted Dordt College's sweep effort in baseball action in Crete, Nebraska Friday afternoon. The Defenders avoided the shutout with a homerun in the seventh inning and had the tying run at the plate when the game ended.

Doane got two runs in the first inning and a run each in the fifth and sixth innings off of Dordt starter Chase Dieleman.

Dordt's offense came in the seventh when Phillip Sears clubbed a homerun after Josh Bowers reached with a double. Travis Feekes followed with a single but was stranded on base as the game ended.

Dieleman allowed one earned run but was charged with four total runs in his six innings of work. The freshman allowed eight hits and struck out one in the loss.

Feekes, Peters, Pheneger, Bowers, Halpert and Sears accounted for Dordt's six hits.

Dordt is now 6-12 overall and 1-1 in the conference while Doane is 7-14 overall and 1-1 in the league. Dordt is scheduled to face Hastings on Saturday afternoon in a twinbill in Hastings, Nebraska beginning at noon.
