Dordt College Baseball vs. Hillsdale Baptist

(Moore, Oklahoma) Dordt College lost a one run decision on Saturday in their last game of four with Hillsdale Baptist in Moore, Oklahoma. The Defenders came from down 9-0 to tie the game and stranded the tying run at third and go ahead run at second in the seventh inning.
Dordt gave up four runs in the first and five in the second with Bryan Diemer unable to get out of the second inning. The junior was lifted with two outs and gave way to Kyle Dieleman. Trailing 9-0 Dordt got one in the third on a Travis Feekes double and Eric Torgerson single. Dordt then erupted for six runs in the fourth and took advantage of two Hillsdale Baptist errors in the frame while getting four hits. Zach Staudt had a single and Josh Bowers a double to set the inning up. Travis Dekkers knocked in a run with a single and Evan Pheneger had a single to plate a run as well. Dordt's other runs came by error and fielder's choice plays. Another run in the fifth made it an 9-8 game when Dekkers singled in a run. The tying run was cut down at the plate in the inning but Dordt was able to eventually tie it with a Josh Bowers run scoring single in the sixth.
Hillsdale Baptist then got a run in the home half of the sixth after Kyle Dieleman had worked four innings to get the Defenders in position to win but was saddled with the loss in allowing the go ahead run.
Dordt had an opportunity to tie it in the seventh when Travis Feekes walked and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Dillon Peters walked and both advanced on a wild pitch with two outs. A ground out ended the inning and the game.
Dieleman takes the loss after working four innings and gave up four hits with one run and two walks while striking out one. Bryan Diemer started the game and went an inning and two-third with eight hits allowed and nine runs. He walked four.
Josh Bowers was 3-3 with one run and one rbi and two doubles. Dekkers had two singles and two runs batted in and Torgerson was credited with two runs batted in and two singles. Feekes walked once, doubled once and scored three runs.
None of Dordt's three errors figured into runs for the hosts.
Dordt is now 4-10 and they will play Central Christian in McPherson, Kansas on Monday, March 16.
