Dordt College Baseball vs. Hillsdale Baptist

(Moore, Oklahoma) The Dordt Defender baseball team lost a 10-4 decision in game one of their doubleheader with Hillsdale Baptist in Moore, Oklahoma on Saturday, March 14.
Dordt College got behind early after allowing two runs in the first and another in the third before getting one back in the fourth when Dillon Peters singled and Travis Dekkers was hit by a pitch. After Evan Pheneger was hit by a pitch to load the bases Ben Fife put the ball in play to score Peters from third base on a fielder's choice.
Five runs in home half of the fourth inning gave the hosts an 8-1 lead. Dordt got three in the seventh with Peters dealing a two run blow with a single and Josh Bowers forced in a run when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
The game was the first pitching appearance of the season for Cameron Gagnon. The freshman went three and a third innings with five hits allowed and five runs given up--three of which were earned and was charged with the loss. He walked two and struck out three. Eric Torgerson came in during the fourth inning and finished the game with six hits allowed, five runs and three strikeouts. Two of his runs were unearned.
Zach Staudt was 2-4 at the plate and Peters was 2-4 with a run scored and two runs batted in. Travis Feekes reached twice by walk and scored a run. Dordt was outhit 11-5.
Dordt will face Hillsdale Baptist in game two of the doubleheader.
