Dordt College Baseball vs. Hillsdale Baptist

(Moore, Oklahoma) Dordt College made it a sweep of Hillsdale Baptist in non-conference baseball action on Friday, March 13. The Defenders took the suspense out of this one in the third inning with nine runs and won the six inning contest by an 18-4 margin.

Dordt got one run in the second inning to tie it when Travis Dekkers scored on an error. Dekkers then clubbed a two run homerun in the third inning and Dillon Peters also knocked in a pair with a single. By the time the inning was over Dordt had nine runs on six hits. The hosts got three in their half of the frame and after two scoreless innings the Defenders plated eight for the final of 18-4.

The sixth inning featured eight runs and eight hits with a pair of homeruns highlighting Dordt's trip through the order. Evan Pheneger belted a homerun with one man on and Zach Staudt clubbed his second homerun of the twinbill, a three run job to help the Defender cause.

Chase Dieleman went the distance with four hits, four runs, three earned runs and two walks while striking out one.

Evan Pheneger was 4-5 with two runs scored and three runs batted and had a homerun and a double. Travis Dekkers and Dillon Peters were both 3-4 with two and three runs batted in respectively. Dekkers also had three runs scored and a homerun. Peters reached once by walk. Josh Bowers was 2-5 with a double and single and two runs scored. Travis Feekes scored three runs and was 1-4. Halpert and Staudt also accounted for a hit each with Staudt's being the three run homerun.

Dordt is now 4-8 and will play Hillsdale Baptist on Saturday, March 14.
