Dordt College Baseball vs. Hillsdale Baptist

(Moore, Oklahoma) The Dordt College Defender baseball team opened their 2009 Spring Break trip with a win over Hillsdale Baptist in non-conference baseball action in Oklahoma. The 7-4 win came at the expense of a team that has competed for several NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) national baseball titles.
The Defenders scored first with a run in the first inning and tacked on four more in the second when Travis Feekes knocked in a pair with a single and Morgan Halpert got one in with a base knock. Hillsdale Baptist got two back in the home half of the second inning and they got one more in the third.
Dordt capped the scoring with a leadoff homerun by Zach Staudt and Feekes got Dordt's seventh run of the game when he scored on a passed ball.
Dordt's offense was more than enough for Patrick Sinnema who improved his season record to 2-1 with a complete game win where he scattered ten hits for four runs with three earned. He walked one and struck out six in Dordt's third win of the season.
Dordt had seven hits with Feekes getting three singles with three stolen bases. Josh Bowers, Eric Torgerson, Morgan Halpert and Staudt all had one hit each with Staudt hitting the homerun in the fifth.
Dordt is 3-8 and will face Hillsdale Baptist in game two of the doubleheader.
