Dordt College Baseball vs. Peru State

(Peru, Nebraska) Peru State got the sweep of the Dordt Defenders in non-conference baseball on Friday in Peru, Nebraska. The Bobcats used runs in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings to take advantage of ten hits for the 8-2 win. Dordt couldn't get the timely hit in this one as they stranded at least one runner in each inning.
Dordt scored first with a run in the top of the first when Travis Feekes singled and later scored on a Travis Dekkers base hit. Peru State scored the next five runs--one in the second, two in the third and two in the fourth for a lead they never gave up. Dordt did make it 5-2 with a run in the fifth but Peru State got three more in the home half of the inning.
Bryan Diemer was charged with the loss after pithcing three and two-thirds innings. The junior allowed five runs--all of them earned, with seven hits and two walks. Feekes, Dillon Peters, Travis Dekkers and Josh Bowers accounted for Dordt's eight hits and Bowers had the lone extra base hit, a triple. Bowers scored Dordt's other run when Eric Anderson grounded out. The Defenders stranded 11 in the loss.
Dordt is now 2-6 and will face Peru State on Saturday afternoon.
