Dordt College Baseball vs. Peru State

(Peru, Nebraska) The Dordt College baseball team dropped game one of their doubleheader with the Peru State Bobcats on Friday in Peru, Nebraska by a 7-3 count. The Defender managed to out hit the hosts 7-6 but were done in by costly errors that resulted in five unearned runs for the Bobcats.
Dordt scored a run in the top of the second when Morgan Halpert put the ball in play with Evan Pheneger at third base and Pheneger was able to race home on the ground out to make it 3-1. Peru State got two more in the bottom of the second and Dordt responded with a two out double by Phillip Sears followed by a Dillon Peters base on balls. Travis Dekkers singled to score Sears to make it 5-2. Peru State got two more in the third and Dordt's last offense came in the fourth when Travis Feekes moved Josh Bowers in on a single.
Ryan Baas took the loss while allowing seven runs--two of which were earned with six hits allowed, walked one and struck out two.
Evan Pheneger had a pair of hits and a run scored while Travis Dekkers, Sears, Feekes, Bowers and Ben Fife all had a hit in the Dordt attack.
