Dordt College Baseball vs. Manhattan Christian

(Manhattan, Kansas) The Dordt College Defender baseball team earned their first win of the season in convincing style with a 14-4 five inning decision against Manhattan Christian in Manhattan, Kansas on Thursday afternoon. The Defenders pulled away from a 3-3 tie in the third with five runs in the third, three in the fourth and three in the fifth. At the same time Patrick Sinnema was keeping the Manhattan Christian bats silent with a seven hitter.
Dordt was led by Travis Feekes. The junior outfielder was 4-5 with two runs scored and four runs batted in with a stolen base and a homerun with three singles. Evan Pheneger and Josh Bowers each had 2-3 days with Pheneger scoring a run. Phillip Sears scored a run and knocked in a pair and stole a base while Dillon Peters was 1-3 with a pair of runs batted in with a single. Ben Fife knocked a double and scored three runs for the Defenders.
Sinnema went the distance with seven hits allowed along with four earned runs and nine strikeouts. Josh Taten, the losing pitcher, allowed 10 runs but only two of them were earned.
