Dordt College Baseball vs. Baker

(Baldwin City, Kansas) The Dordt College Defenders were tripped up in their first game of the 2008 baseball season at Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas on Saturday, March 1.
The Defenders got two runs in the second inning when Leland Kootstra knocked in a pair with a single for a 2-1 lead. Baker took the lead back in the bottom of the inning for a 4-2 lead and an advantage they would never relinquish, plating four runs in the third and three more in the sixth for the 11-2 win.
Dordt had six hits with Kootsra getting two of them along with Jed Bennett. Dillon Peters and Daryl Visser accounted for the other Dordt College base knocks.
Alex Jansen was the starter and took the loss, working the first two and a third innings. Nate De Witt came on in relief and went one and two-thirds innings while allowing one hit and no runs. Baker's Vidal Nuno got the win, allowing six hits over six innings and was charged with one earned run. Dusty Griffin led the Baker offense with three hits and three runs batted in.
