Dordt College Baseball vs. Southeastern

(Lakeland, Florida) The Dordt College Defender baseball team was unable to maintain a 10-4 lead after six innings in dropping an 11-10 decision at Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida in nine innings. The game was scheduled to go nine innings.
The Defenders staked themselves to the lead with one in the first and three in the third and then scored in the next four frames for a 10-4 lead. Southeasterm countered with three in the seventh and then one in the eighth and won in with three in the ninth.
Evan Pheneger knocked in two in the third inning on a triple. Travis Feekes produced two runs iwth a single in the fourth and Pheneger got a solo homerun in the fifth. Pheneger had a solo homer again in the seventh and Daryl Visser capped the scoring with a solo homerun of his own in the same frame.
Southeastern scored their three in the seventh to win the game after stringing together two singles after a walk and took advantage of an error with one out in the inning to plate one run and then scored two more on a single to win it.
Dordt's Pheneger was 3-4 at the plate with a triple and two homeruns with four runs batted in. Travis Feekes was 2-5 with a pair of runs batted in while Dillon Peters and Travis De Jong both had a pairo fhits as the Defenders banged out thirteen hits in the loss.
Leland Kootstra takes the loss in relief. He was charged with four runs on four hits while walking one and faced three batters in the ninth inning. Alex Jansen started the game and went two innings and allowed two hits before giving way to Kyle Dieleman wtih four runs allowed in four innings pitched on five hits.
The Defenders are now 2-5 and will face Toccoa Falls on Wednesday in a doubleheader at Lakeland, Florida. The Defenders are scheduled for a conference doubleheader against Dana on Friday, March 21 in Blair, Nebraska. Southeastern drops to 19-18 for the season.
