Dordt College Baseball vs. Southeastern

(Lakeland, Florida) The Dordt College Defender baseball team managed a split for the second day in a row as they defeated Southeastern University (Florida) in Lakeland, Florida. The Defenders took an early lead and never gave it up on the way to their second win of the season.
Bryan Diemer managed to keep Southeastern off balance, scattering four runs on seven hits with a run allowed in the second and third and two more in the sixth. Dordt struck first with a run in the first and three more in the second before staking themselves to an 8-2 lead after four innings. Southeastern made it 8-4 with a pair of runs in the sixth that sent Diemer off the mound and Leland Kootstra worked the final inning and a third and allowed just one hit.
The Defenders were led by Austin Turner and Josh Bowers with a pair of hits each and a pair of runs batted in. Bowers smacked a double and a homerun while Turner had a pair of singles.
Dordt is 2-4 and will play Southeastern in a single-nine inning game on Tuesday, March 18.
