Dordt College Baseball vs. Sioux Falls

(Sioux Center, Iowa) The Sioux Falls Cougars scored at least one run in each of the first six innings and went on to beat the Dordt College Defenders 12-5 in baseball action at Open Space Park in Sioux Center. The loss ends the Dordt College baseball season shy of the GPAC post-season tournament.
Sioux Falls got a run each in the first and second innings and then took a 4-1 lead with two runs in the third.
Dordt tied the game with three runs in the third with run scoring singles by Austin Turner and Dillon Peters and a sacrifice fly by Evan Phenegar. Sioux Falls responded with two more in the fourth and another in the fifth and blew the game open with five in the top of the sixth. Dordt got one in the bottom of the seventh on a Travis De Jong sacrifice fly to cap their scoring.
Dordt was outhit 16-8 in the loss and committed four errors. Daryl Visser takes the loss for Dordt, going four innings and allowing nine hits and six runs with three walks and one strikeout. Nate De Wit, Chris Liebhart, Patrick Sinnema and Craig Horstman all appeared in relief. Travis De Jong ends his career for Dordt with a 3-3 game at the plate with a run batted in and a double while Austin Turner had a 3-2 game with two runs scored. Bower had had run scored and Dillon Peters had a double, a run scored and an rbi.
Dordt ends the campaign with a 10-14 conference mark and 13-22 overall. Sioux Falls goes to the GPAC tournament with a 12-12 conference record and a 14-25 overall mark.
