Dordt College Baseball vs. Nebraska Wesleyan

(Lincoln, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender baseball team lost a 6-5 GPAC contest to Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, Nebraska on Monday, April 14 in game one of their doubleheader. The Defenders took a 5-4 lead into the sixth inning but couldn't hold off the Prairie Wolves allowing two runs--the second one the result of one of three Dordt errors on the afternoon.
Dordt got three runs in the secod with a two-run homerun by Josh Bowers and a Travis De Jong single plating the three runs. Dillon Peters knocked a run in during the third inning and while going 2-4 at the plate. De Jong also was 2-4 and Bowers was 2-3 as Dordt outhit the hosts 13-11. Dordt did have a scoring opportunity in the top of the sixth when they loaded the bases with one out but a double play ended the threat.
Alex Jansen took the loss, allowing six runs on 11 hits and struck out two and walked two. Five of the runs were earned.
Dordt is now 5-8 in the GPAC and 8-16 overall while Wesleyan is 8-7 in the GPAC and 16-13 overall heading into game two of their doubleheader.
