Dordt College Baseball vs. Mount Marty

(Yankton, South Dakota) The Dordt College Defender baseball team won a 2-1 thriller over the Mount Marty Lancers in game one of their doubleheader played at Yankton, South Dakota.
Dordt scored one in the first when Travis Feekes singled and was moved over on a ground ball to the right side by Dillon Peters. Feekes then stole third and Travis De Jong lifted a fly ball ot the outfield to plate Feekes with the sacrifice fly. Mount Marty got one run back in the bottom of the first and the teams then played three scoreless frames.
Dordt broke the tie in the fifth inning when Josh Bowers singled and moved up to second base on a Josh Bowers grounder. Feekes then reached on an error and took the double play out of order when he stole second. Dillon Peters then grounded out to the rightside to advance the runners, getting credit for an rbi on the play. Mount Marty had a chance to tie it in the bottom of the seventh but stranded the runner at third when a runner was cut off the bases trying to steal second.
Dordt was outhit 7-6 but Mount Marty was saddled with two errors. Patrick Sinnema was the winner, allowing seven hits adn striking out three with two walks issued. Chris Liebhart went 2-3 at the plate with a double. Feekes, Bobby Lutke, Evan Pheneger and Bowers accounted for Dordt's other four hits.
Dordt improves to 6-9 with the win.
