Dordt College Baseball vs. Hastings

(Hastings, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender baseball team scored an opening game win of their doubleheader with Hastings in Hastings, Nebraska, Saturday, March 29 in Great Plains Athletic Conference play by a 3-0 score.
Freshman hurler Patrick Sinnema limited Hastings to three hits and Dordt got two across in the fifth and one in the sixth for the conference victory.
Dordt made the most of four singles with Travis Feekes, Austin Turner, Travis De Jong and Ben Fife all smacking basehits. Turner had a run batted in as did Evan Pheneger. Sinnema struck out five and walked three in the complete game victory.
Hastings stranded runners at third in the second and fifth innings in the loss and left six on base. Dordt got their runs in the fifth after two outs were recorded. Derek Peters was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a Ben Fife single. Travis Feekes then reached on an error charged to Hastings' third baseman to load the bases and Austin Turner singled in Peters. Fife also scored on the play but Feekes was cut down in a rundown to end the inning.
Dordt got a run for insurance in the sixth when Dillon Peters scored after walking to lead off the inning and came in on an Evan Pheneger groundout.
Dordt is now 6-10 overall and 3-4 in the GPAC. Hastings slides to 8-19 and 1-4.
