Dordt College Baseball vs. Doane

(Crete, Nebraska) The Dordt College Defender baseball team lost a 4-1 decision at the hands of the Doane Tigers on Friday afternoon in Crete, Nebraska. The game was re-scheduled to Crete due to snow cover in Sioux Center, Iowa. Dordt was still the home team in the game.
The Defenders allowed three runs in the first inning but got themselves out of the frame with a doubleplay. Dordt's offense struggled with just three hits in the contest, getting two of them in the bottom of the third to plate a run.
Travis Feekes walked with two outs in the third inning and Dillon Peters followed with a single. Travis De Jong then reached on an error by the third baseman to load the bases. Bobby Lutke then delivered a single to center field that scored Feekes but Leland Kootstra, a pinch runner for De Jong, was cut down at second base on the play for the third out of the inning. Doane got another run for insurance in the sixth and Dordt was unable to mount a serious threat the rest of the way.
Chris Liebhart took the loss, working four and a third innings with six hits, thre earned runs, three walks and struck out two. Daryl Visser worked two and two-thirds innings in relief and gave up one run on three hits and struck out one. Bryan Dutcher got the complete game win for the Tigers with a three hitter, allowing two walks, three hits and struck out three.
Dordt's Dillon Peters, Travis De Jong and Bobby Lutke accounted for their three hits with singles.
Dordt is now 4-10 overall and 1-4 in the conference. Doane improves to 11-13 overall and 4-1 in the league.
