Dordt College Baseball vs. Hamline

(Metrodome, Minneapolis, Minnesota) The Dordt Defenders lost their second game of their season opening doubleheader with Hamline at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota early Friday morning.
The Defenders surrendered four unearned runs inteh first four innings and got no closer than 5-3 after scoring three runs in the sixth inning but gave up a run in the top of the seventh for the final of 6-3.
Dordt got their three runs when Dillon Peters, Travis De Jong and Bobby Lutke singled. Lutke's base knock produced a run. Scott Van Zanten followed with a single that scored a run. Jed Bennett knocked the third run in with a single after a groundout. Hamline squashed the threat, stranding two runners after a pitching change.
Kyle Dieleman took the loss, working 3 1/3 innings, allowing five runs--one of which was earned with four hits, two walks and two strikeouts. Daryl Visser went the final 3 2/3 innings, allowing three hits and one run while striking out two. Kyle Foster got the win for Hamline, going 5 1/3 while allowing nine hits, three runs, walking one and striking out five.
Dordt again outhit Hamline 10-7. All of Dordt's hits were singles with Jeremy Hilt, Travis De Jong and Jed Bennett smacking two each. Bobby Lutke, Dillon Peters and Scott Van Zanten all had one hit each. Lutke, Van Zanten and Bennett all had a run batted in while Peters, De Jong and Evan Pheneger, a pinch runner in the game, each scored a run for the now 0-2 Defenders.
