Dordt College Baseball vs. Hamline

(Minneapolis, Minnesota (Metrodome)) The Dordt College Defender baseball team was done in today by four errors in game one of their doubleheader with Hamline University at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The Defenders, playing in their season opener after two doubleheaders were snowed out earlier this month, took the the lead in the third inning when Daryl Visser slugged a homerun over the baggie in rightfield on the Minnesota Twins home field. The Defenders outhit Hamline 7-3 but were unable to string the hits together for more offense. The Defenders threatended to build on their lead in the fourth inning when Travis De Jong doubled with two outs and Bobby Lutke put runners at the corners with a single. Derek Peters loaded the bases with a walk but a Scott Van Zanten fielder's choice ended the threat. The Defenders also threatened in the fifth, getting runners at the corners with two outs but saw their scoring chance end on a ground out.
The Defenders got two singles by Bobby Lutke and a double and a single from Evan Pheneger. The Visser homerun, the De Jong double and a Nate Daane single accounted for Dordt's three other hits.
Hamline got all of their offense in the fifth and sixth innings off of Dordt errors.
Chris Liebhart takes the loss for Dordt, allowing three hits, two walks and striking out three. Adam Letson earned the win, going the distance for Hamline.
