Dordt College Baseball vs. Carleton

(Metrodome-Minneapolis, Minnesota) Dordt College lost the back end of their doubleheader with Carleton on Saturday morning at the Metrodome on Saturday morning losing a 3-1 decision.
Neither team scored in the first four frames with Carleton breaking through with a run in the fifth. Dordt answered back with a run to tie it when Jed Bennett walked and was pushed over to second. Bobby Lutke knocked Bennett in with a triple but couldn't get pushed in to give Dordt the lead. Carleton went on to score a run in both of the next two innings and Dordt failed to match it losing 3-1. Dordt threatened in the sixth and seventh, getting two runners on base in each of the frames but couldn't get the timely hit to knock the runners around.
Nate Daane started as pitcher and gave up 3 hits and an unearned run. Scott Van Zanten took over halfway through the game and gave 6 hits and 2 earned runs and was saddled with the loss in relief. Bobby Lutke went 2 for 3 at the plate with a triple and single and run batted in. Jeremy Hilt had Dordt's other hit as the Defenders were outhit 9-3. Both teams committed two errors.
