Dordt College Baseball vs. Sioux Falls

(Sioux Falls, South Dakota) The Dordt College Defender baseball team suffered a heartbreaking loss to the University of Sioux Falls in conference baseball play on Friday afternoon in Sioux Falls by a final score of 8-7.
The Defenders scored one in the third inning on a Travis Feekes double followed by two hit batsmen, Jon Ledeboer and Jeremy Hilt. With the bases loaded and one out, Travis De Jong hit into a fielder's choice which allowed Feekes to score from third. In the fourth inning Eric Van Maanen ignited a six run frame when he doubled. Nate Daane followed with a single and Travis Feekes singled Van Maanen in. Dillon Peters followed with a single that loaded the bases and Travis De Jong cleaned them off with a double. Bobby Lutke doubled in Scott Van Zanten who was running for De Jong and when the dust had settled, Dordt held a 7-0 lead.
Sioux Falls got one run back in the fifth inning to make it 7-1 and the lead seemed safe until the bottom of the seventh when Sioux Falls finalley solved Alex Jansen's pitching, getting to the Defender righty for seven runs on eight hits, snatching the win from an injury depleted squad.
Dordt's Bobby Lutke, Eric Van Maanen and Travis Feekes all had two hits with Feekes scoring two runs. Dillon Peters and Travis De Jong accounted for Dordt's other two hits.
Jansen took the loss, allowing eight runs on 14 hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Doug Thompson was the winner for Sioux Falls, allowing seven runs on ning hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Aaron Boyer was 3-4 for the Cougars.
