Dordt College Baseball vs. Mount Marty

(Yankton, South Dakota) The Dordt baseball team suffered a 13-8 loss on the road to conference opponent Mount Marty in game one of their doubleheader in Yankton, South Dakota.
Dordt erupted for five runs in the third inning when Bobby Lutke doubled and Dillon Peters followed with a single. After a balk scored Lutke and advanced Peters to second Josh Bowers singled with an out to score Peters. Jon Ledeboer singled to put runners at first and second and Eric Van Maanen clubbed a three-run homerun to give Dordt a 5-1 lead. Mount Marty responded with three in the second and then opened the lead to 11-5 with seven runs in the fourth. Dillon Peters knocked two more runs in with a sinlge in the fifth to get the Defenders back to within 11-7 but two more Lancer runs in the sixth put the game out of reach.
Daryl Visser took the loss for Dordt, allowing eight runs on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Lutke was 2-4 with two runs scored while Dillon Peters and Jon Ledeboer each had two hits as well. Both teams had 12 hits with Dordt stranding eight runners and Mount Marty four.
