Dordt College Baseball vs. Mount Marty

(Sioux Center, Iowa) Dordt faced off with Mount Marty Saturday afternoon at home in a double header. Dordt struggled in game one fallin 3-1.

The game started slow as we had a pitchers duel from the mound. Both sides failed to score in the first three innings. Mount Marty put the first run on the board scoring 1 in the 4th and added another in the 5th. Dordt finally brought in 1 run in the bottom of the 6th but failed to come back giving up another run in the 7th and fell to Mount Marty, 3-1. Dordt was able to get runners at second and third with one out but the rally was squelched with a strikeout and a groundout to close the game.

Mount Marty scored 3 runs on 7 hits and made no errors. Dordt scored 1 run on 8 hits and made 1 errors. Jeremy Hilt, Nate Daane and Dillon Peters were all credited with 2 hits while Scott Van Zanten and Travis Feekes tallied one. Alex Jansen pitched all 7 innings giving up 2 earned runs on 7 hits.

Dordt falls to 5-16 overall, 3-8 in conference play while Mount Marty improves to 17-10, 5-6 in the GPAC.
