Dordt College Baseball vs. Hastings

(Hastings, Nebraska) The Dordt College baseball team lost their second game of the day against the Hastings College Broncos on Saturday, losing a 5-3 decision to the conference rival.
Dordt surrendered on in the first and then four in the fifth as Nate Daane, Dordt's starting pitcher was touched for six hits.
Dordt got on the board in the seventh when Travis De Jong singled, moved to second when Bobby Lutke reached on an error and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Dillon Peters walked to load the bases. A Chris Liebhart grounder to first scored one run on the out. After a pitching change Scott Va Zanten doubled to lift to score two runs. Derek Peters later reachd on an error, putting the tying run on base but a fly ball to right field by Travis Feekes ended the inning.
Dordt was out hit 10-3 and stranded four runners while Hastings left 11 on base.
Nate Daane took the loss, allowing five runs on ten hits wiht one walk and two strikeouts. Bryan Diemer worked the final frame and walked two and allowed no hits. Tyler Kucera got the win for Hastings. He was charged with three runs on two hits while walking two and striking out three.
Accounting for Dordt's three hits were Travis Feekes, Travis De Jong and Scott Van Zanten with Van Zanten's hit the only extra base knock of the bunch.
Dordt is now 3-11 and 1-3 in the Great Plains Athletic Conferece while Hastings is 2-0 in the league and 9-17 overall.
