Dordt College Baseball vs. Hastings

(Hastings, Nebraska) The Dordt College baseball team lost their second one run game in as many days with a 2-1 loss to the Hastings College Broncos in Hastings in game one of their doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
The Defenders allowed a run in the first and another in the fourth before scoring a run in the fifth inning when Scott Van Zanten reached on an error, advanced to second on a ground out to the right side of the infield. Jeremy Hilt then lifted a fly ball to center that Van Zanten advanced to third on after tagging up and Travis De Jong walked to put runners at the corners. A Bobby Lutke single scored Van Zanten. The Dordt rally ended after a pitching change and a force out at a second of Lutke.
Dordt had another chance in the seventh but stranded runners at first and second.
Dordt's Alex Jansen took the loss, going the distance, scattering eight hits and striking out six while walking one and giving up two earned runs. Marc Brown earned the win by allowing five hits in 4 and 2/3 innings.
Bobby Lutke and Dillon Peters both ahd two hits with Lutke knocking in the lone run. Jed Bennett, Travis De Jong, Nate Daane and Scott Van Zanten each had one single. Both teams had eight hits and both teams stranded nine runners.
Dordt slips to 1-2 in the league and 3-10 overall.
